Billy Johnson

COTTONWOOD…Mr. Billy Ray Johnson, a resident of Cottonwood, died Friday morning, April 9, 2021 in a Dothan hospital. He was 76.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 12, 2021 in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Billy Dickerson, and Reverend Chuck Spivey officiating.  Burial will follow in Frith Hill Community Church Cemetery, near Cottonwood. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home in Ozark.

Mr. Johnson, son of the late Grady Daniel Johnson and Willie Mae Carpenter Johnson, was a native of the Bald Hill Community, near Hartford. In earlier years, he was engaged in farming and was employed with Beckham’s in Enterprise. He later retired from the City of Enterprise Public Works Department. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Frith Hill Community Church. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Ann Raffield, Faye Todd, and Bobbie Jeanette Metcalf and three brothers, Lamar Cawley, Charles Cawley, and Wayne Johnson; stepdaughters, Stephanie Toole and Sharon Lott; step-grandchildren, Gordon Toole and Holden Toole.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Patricia Morris Johnson, Cottonwood; three daughters, Beckie Blackburn (Tab), Summertown, TN, Virginia “Bug” Hawthorne (Bobby Gillespie), Ozark, and Jennifer Alvarado (Thomas), Geneva; step-children, Cecil Scott Toole (Becky), Esto, FL and Steven Dewayne Toole (Jolene), Vidalia, LA; three sisters, Shirley Monette, Las Vegas, NV, Gail Reeves (Leo), Enterprise, and Sue Ellenburg, Florala; sister-in-law, Juanita Johnson, Chancellor, AL; two brothers, Gerald Johnson (Angie), Ozark and Larry Gene Johnson (Laura), Enterprise; grandchildren, Josh Bagwell, Nickie Glover (Jessie), Carrie Alvarado (Chilo), Ashley Alvarado, Anthony Alvarado , and Bella Alavarado; great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Leah, Maddox, Morgan, Brandon, Elysia, Preston, Savannah, Laken, Artist, and Salem; great-great-grandchildren, Jamison and Korbin; step-grandchildren, Eli, Emmy, Alex, Megan, Kasey, Isaac, Johnathan, Lindsey, Katrina, and Karlee; step-great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Landon, and Jasper; numerous nieces and nephews.
