Mr. Billy Shehane, a resident of Ozark, went to meet his Heavenly Father surrounded by his loving family on Sunday evening, July 22, 2018 at his home. He was 81.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in the Ozark First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Greg Doss and Reverend Tim Burgess officiating.
Mr. Billy will be laid to rest in Blue Springs Word of Truth Cemetery, between Blue Springs and Clio. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will
receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday in the sanctuary of Ozark First Assembly of God Church.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Ozark First Assembly of God, 170 Country Club Drive, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
Mr. Shehane, son of the late William Bill Shehane and Polly Shehane, was a native of Clio and had lived in Ozark since 1980. He retired from Trailer World in Ozark as a welder in 2006
and following retirement, he worked as a door greeter at Wal Mart in Ozark. Mr. Shehane was an active member of Ozark First Assembly of God Church where he formerly taught the
Adult Sunday School Class, served as a Board member, and most importantly served as the caretaker of the church keeping the lawn maintained. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was
an avid University of Alabama Football Fan. Mr. Shehane was preceded in death by three sisters, Lalar V. Nichols, Loretta Braswell Gleason, an infant sister, and a brother, Reverend A.V.
Shehane.
Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-eight years, Dorothy Burgess Shehane, Ozark; two daughters, Pam Rhodes, Freeport, FL and Penelope "Penni" McDonald (Marcus), Dothan;
six grandchildren, Chris Rhodes, Zach Rhodes, Andrew Hermsmeier, Emma Hermsmeier, Cara McDonald, Maddie McDonald; two sisters, Lillian Milligan, Seale, AL; Mernette Bray (Bobby),
Troy; three brothers, John Shehane (Debbie), Lonnie Shehane, and Jack Shehane, all of Clio; sister-in-law, Linda Campbell (Billy), Clio; brother-in-law, Reverend Tim Burgess (Melissa), Ozark;
several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Rhodes, Zach Rhodes, Andrew Hermsmeier, Mark Shehane, Jason Burgess, and Tim Ivey.
The family would like to thank Encompass Health Hospice for their loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Billy and his family during his illness.
