GULFPORT, MS…Mr. David Carroll Hughes, a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, died late Sunday afternoon, October 23, 2022, in Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was 55.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 29, 2022, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Thomas Dyer and Reverend Phil Craddock officiating. Burial will be in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, near Skipperville. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hughes was born May 3, 1967, in Ozark, Alabama. He attended G.W. Long High School in Skipperville. He formerly lived in Dothan, Kinston, and Ozark before moving to Mississippi in 2001. Mr. Hughes was formerly employed with Brown Manufacturing in Ozark, Shell Offshore as a welder, and was currently employed with L.C. Trucking in Gulfport. He enjoyed playing his guitar, riding motorcycles, and was an excellent wood carver.
Surviving relatives include his daughter, Tamra Hughes King, Hattiesburg, Mississippi; a son, Jacob Matthew Hughes, New Orleans, Louisiana; mother, Mary Ann Danford (Royce), Skipperville; father, Sterling Hughes (Shirley), Ozark; two brothers, Rickey Hughes, Enterprise and Bryan Hughes (Sherry), Skipperville; a grandson, Jeremiah Hughes; aunts and uncles, Helen Skinner (Jerry), Monroeville, Alabama, William Lemmon, Foley, Alabama, Sharon Tubberville (David), Excel, Alabama, Mildred Ellis (Roy), Monroeville, Alabama, Jimmy Lemmon, Excel, Alabama, Floyd Lemmon (Gayle), Cocoa, Florida, and Lydia Grimes, Brewton; step siblings, Jamie Thornton (Cathy), Wetumpka, Alabama, Cheryl Hand, Titus, Alabama, and Jerry Thornton (Jennifer), Marietta, Georgia.
