Ozark

OZARK…. Mr. Don Dennis (CW5, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died late Saturday afternoon, June 22, 2019 in a Dothan hospital. He was 70.

Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, June 30, 2019 in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel with United States Army, Chaplain Boettcher officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. (E.D.T.)  Monday, July 1, 2019 in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Alabama. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Chihuahua Rescue and Adoption, 4030 W. Main St., Dothan, AL 36305.

Mr. Dennis, son of the late Bill Dennis and Velma Roberts, was a native of Centreville, Alabama. He lived in various locations in the United States and overseas while serving in the United States Army, before making his home in Ozark in 1989. Mr. Dennis received a Bachelor’s Degree in Resource and Technology Management from Troy University. He was retired from the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Dennis was the first Warrant Officer to command a flight attachment at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Carolann B. Dennis and two brothers, Johnny Dennis and Fred Dennis.

Surviving relatives include his daughter, Adrienne Childers (Royce), Hamilton, AL; and his son, Bill Dennis, Huntersville, NC; six grandchildren, Christopher Dennis, Nicolas Dennis, Christopher Hunter Childers, Anthony Childers, Matt Childers, and Ryan Childers; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; his beloved K-9 friend, Buddy.
