OZARK…. Mr. Don Henderson, a resident of Ozark, died early Thursday morning, September 10, 2020 at his home. He was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, September 12, 2020 in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Minister George Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ariton Church of Christ, c/o, Kym Hornsby, 709 Royal Parkway, Dothan, Alabama 36305.
Mr. Henderson, son of the late Allen and Tinnie Bell Henderson, was a native of Blue Springs, Alabama. He moved to Echo at an early age and then to Ozark in 1955. In earlier years, he was employed with Page Aircraft at Ft. Rucker as a fixed-wing mechanic. Mr. Henderson owned and operated Henderson Appliance Service in Ozark. He was a member of Ozark Masonic Lodge #349. Mr. Henderson was a member of the Ariton Church of Christ and a former member of the Ozark Church of Christ. Even though he had physical impairments, they never slowed him down when it came to his family and friends. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and never met a stranger. Mr. Henderson was truly “the best father, a girl could ask for”.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Thelda Skipper Henderson; two brothers, James “Lefty” Henderson and Foy Henderson.
Surviving relatives include his two daughters, Shannon Carter (Chuck), Ariton and Susan Pittman (Jimmy), Ozark; his sister, Shirley Thrasher, Ozark; four grandchildren, Brandon Pittman (April), Whitney King (Kenneth), Quade Carter, and Kaylee Carter; two great-grandchildren, Addison Pittman and Jackson Pittman.
