ROCKY HEAD COMMUNITY… Mr. Donnell Grimes, a resident of the Rocky Head Community, near Ariton, died early Thursday morning, April 22, 2021 in Dale Medical Center. He was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 25, 2021 in the Rocky Head Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Weed and Reverend Claude Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the church.
Flowers will be accepted.
Mr. Grimes was born March 18, 1940 in Dale County, Alabama and has lived in the Rocky Head Community most of his lifetime. He was employed with Pemco (Hayes Aircraft) in Napier Field for forty-three years before retiring due to being diagnosed with Sjogren’s Syndrome and Sensory Neuropathy. Mr. Grimes was a member of Rocky Head Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and served in numerous other positions at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert E. and Ellie Vee Ezell Grimes.
Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty years, Linda Lois Baker Grimes; three daughters, Stephanie Lynn Senn, Sheila Ann Grimes Waller (Lee) and Stacy Belinda Forbes (Shane); four grandchildren, William Bryan Phillips (Jessi), Vanessa Nikole Moates (Shane Leatherwood), Alexis Belinda Forbes, and Kylie Brianna Forbes; two great-grandchildren, Bryson Carter Moates and William Forrest Leatherwood.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Lee Waller, Shane Forbes, William Bryan Phillips, Shane Leatherwood, William Parsons, and Butch Andrews.
