Mrs. Dorothea Barnes Valrie (Bird) was born to this world on March 13, 1966 in Ozark, AL to the late Dorothy Barnes. God gave Dorothea her wings on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 and called his angel home at Hospice Savannah, Savannah, GA.
Dorothea accepted Christ at an early age joining Friendship AME, Ozark, AL. She graduated from Carroll High School, Ozark, AL, Class of 1984. She later attended Wallace College where she received her degree in cosmetology.
She was employed by Val's Corp. where she held the position of CEO for many years. This position was her life and her joy. She demonstrated her expertise as a devoted, loving, supportive, proud wife, mother and grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful life a loving and devoted husband, Kenneth G. Valrie, Sr., Ozark, AL; one daughter, Kenya I. Valrie, Ozark, AL; two sons, Kenneth G. Valrie, Jr. and Kendric Valrie, both of Enterprise, AL; three grandchildren, Kiarra Valrie, Kentayvius Valrie, Nash Valrie; two sisters, Cheryl Carlisle and Mary Brooks, both of Ozark; two brothers, Willie E. (Angela) Carlisle, and Taaheed Abdullah, all of Ozark, AL; father-in-law, Willie (Madeline) Valrie, Natchitoches, LA; three brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Tanuya) Valrie, Huntsville, AL, Willie Valrie, Jr., Natchitoches, LA, Casey (Jennifer) Jones, Jr., Ft. Mitchell, AL; three sisters-in-law, Debra (Henry) Covington, Hinesville, GA, Karen Whitehurst, Enterprise, AL, Tammy Watson, Montgomery, AL; three aunts, Ethel Carlisle and Sharon Daniels, both of Ozark, Rosie Ray; four Godchildren; Kenya's God parents, Casey Jones, Sr. and Jennifer Jones, both of Ft. Mitchell, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death include her parents; two brothers, Roger (Big-Um) Barnes and Rodney (Coy) Barnes; one sister, Debra Ann Carlisle.
