Doug Wriston,(SFC, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died Thursday evening, June 7, 2018 at his home. He was 67.
A Celebration of Life Gathering, with military rites, will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center, 368 James St., Ozark, Alabama 36360.
Mr. Wriston, son of the late Howard Ray Wriston, Jr. and Fairy Noreen Parsons Wriston, was born in Akron, Ohio and lived in various locations in the United States and overseas while serving in the United States Army. He was retired from the United States Army after serving tours in Vietnam, Germany, Louisiana, Korea and ending at Ft. Rucker. Mr. Wriston was awarded a Silver Star for his service in Vietnam. He was formerly employed by Honeywell Electronics. Mr. Wriston enjoyed RVing and spending time at the beach with friends and family. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda K. Jupin.
Surviving relatives include his wife of forty years, Charlene Kantz Wriston, Ozark; two daughters, Kelley Pynes (Kyle) and Alicia Wriston, all of Dothan; a granddaughter, Kenna Pynes; a sister, Rosemary Zornes (Ronald), Akron, OH; two brothers-in-law, Larry T. Kantz (Vicki), Lebanon, PA and James Jupin, Weimer, CA; nieces and nephews, Nora Rene Cord (Adam), Jay Thomas Zornes (Nicole), Rachel Clark (David) and Matthew Jupin (Erin); great-nieces and nephews, Elianna Cord, Bethany Cord, Jackson Zornes, Harper Zornes, Declan Clark and Katie Clark.
