Mr. Eldrid Ray Adams, a resident of Enterprise, went Home to his Heavenly Father early Tuesday afternoon, May 16, 2023, with his family by his side. He was 85.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise with Dr. Michael Mynatt officiating. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Adams, son of Oliver Ray Adams and Lily Thelma Hughes Hardy, was born in Dale County, near Ariton. He was a graduate of Bay County High School in Panama City, Florida and had an Associate’s Degree from Enterprise State Junior College. Mr. Adams served ten years in the Army National Guard. He retired in 2000, at Ft. Rucker, where he worked forty-three years as a Technical Publications Writer and Editor. He was a long-time faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise. Mr. Adams was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed photography, eating ice cream, and watching Alabama football. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Buford Lomax Adams; two sisters, Linda Andrews and Carolyn Cline; stepfather, Dallas D. Hardy; and stepbrother, Dallas D. Hardy, Jr.
Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-four years, Frances “Kitty” Adams; his daughter, Lisa Dovin (Barry); his son, Thomas Adams (Tina); three grandchildren, Andrew Dovin, Rachel Dovin, and Dakota Adams; sister, Demaris Martin (Steve); brother, Bo Adams (Sandra); stepsister, Carol Edgeworth (Jim); and stepbrother, Rodney Hardy (Elaine).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Benevolence Fund in memory of Eldrid, 500 Alberta Street, Enterprise, Alabama 36330.
