OZARK…. Mrs. Ellie V. Grimes, a resident of Ozark, died late Tuesday evening, October 9, 2018 in the Ozark Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was 104 years and ten months old.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2018 in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bill Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, AL 36360 or to Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Al 36303.
Mrs. Grimes, daughter of the late Beader R. Ezell and Louiza Frances Paramore Ezell, was born near the Pleasant Grove Community in Dale County. She joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in 1932, which made her the oldest member of the church. Mrs. Grimes taught Sunday school and was an active member in earlier years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Edward Grimes, two sisters, Martha Fralish and Verlie Deloney; two brothers, Kenneth Ezell and Lloyd Ezell.
Survivors include her son, Donnell Grimes (Linda Lois), Ariton; three grandchildren, Stephanie Senn (Joey), Sheila Grimes, and Stacy Forbes (Shane); four great-grandchildren, William Bryan Phillips, Vanessa Nicole Moates (Colby), Alexis Belinda Forbes and Kylie Brianna Forbes; one great-great grandson, Bryson Carter Moates; her brother, Kermit Ezell, Pensacola, FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Larry Ezell, Lamar Tomlin, Jimmy Ezell, Don Ezell, Dennis Ezell, and Kenny Baker.
