PARAMORE CROSSROADS COMMUNITY… Mr. Emmett Arnold Fain (1SG, United States Army, Retired), a resident of the Paramore Crossroads Community, near Ozark, died Tuesday morning, July 26, 2022, at his home. He was 94.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 28, 2022, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Whitt officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 36360 or to Gideons International, Dale County Camp, PO Box 291, Ozark, Alabama 36361.
Mr. Fain, son of the late Homer Remus Fain and Edna Maude Dansby Fain, was a native of Ozark. He was a 1946 Graduate of Dale County High School in Ozark, attended Riley Business College, and received a Degree in Business from Troy University. Mr. Fain enlisted in the United States Army following high school for three years and worked with Borden Ice Cream in the Accounting Department. He returned to the United States Army in 1954 and served twenty-two years before retiring. Mr. Fain served in World War II, two tours in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He moved to Paramore Crossroads in 1979 and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Fain retired from Ft. Rucker Fire Department as a Crew Chief. He was one of the original founders and volunteers of the Marley Mill Fire Department. Mr. Fain was preceded in death by a grandson, Ricky Fain, Jr.; three brothers, Pete Fain, Ed Fain, and Kenneth Fain.
Surviving relatives include his wife of seventy-two years, Betty Paramore Fain, Ozark; two daughters, Becky Louden, Ozark and Debbie Hughes (Randy), Brundidge; two sons, Ricky Fain (Donna), Ozark and Gary Fain (Nancy), Dothan; a sister, Myra Nell Anderson (Daryl), Pinckard; a brother, Jack Eston Fain, Clarksville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, John Fain, Nick Fain (Brittany), Chris Fain (Lindsey), Josh Hughes (Brooke), and Jessica Fain; eight great-grandchildren, John Parker Fain, Maggie Kate Fain, Merritt Fain, Jack Carter Fain, Adam Grant Fain, Carson Fain, Austin Fain, Avery Hughes, Evan Hughes, Owen Hughes and Erin Fain.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Hughes, Austin Fain, Carson Fain, Chris Fain, Nick Fain, J.P. Fain, John Fain, and Owen Hughes.
