OZARK…. Mrs. Floreed “Flo” Hartley Coby, a resident of Ozark, died Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2020 in an Ozark nursing home. She was 94.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Reverend Dr. Jabe J. Fincher, Jr. officiating. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Coby was a native of Tampa, Florida and attended high school in Jacksonville, Florida. She was married to Bill Coby, who was a PGA golf pro and travelled Georgia where they built golf courses and country clubs. They moved to Ozark while Bill served as the Golf Pro at Ft. Rucker and they built Willow Oaks Country Club. After they sold Willow Oaks, she and her husband became employed with the Ozark Country Club.
In those years she was known to manage the club, book entertainment, reunions, wedding receptions, etc. Miss Flo was known for her fabulous cooking, decorating, sewing skills and creativity. Most of all she was known to be a proper classy lady. She attended Westview Heights United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her only child, Billie Reed Cornelius, her granddaughters, Sunny Lee Reed, and Nicole Cornelius, her great grandson, Coby Levi Evan.
