Ozark

OZARK…Mr. Franklin Minton (Master Sergeant, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died late Friday afternoon, August 23, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 78.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 31, 2024, in the Ewell Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Goodwin, Pastor David Lewis, and Pastor Justin Campbell officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Kidney Foundation, Ewell Bible Baptist Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

 Mr. Minton, son of the late Samuel Shehane and Bertie Barnes Bolton, was a native of Ozark. He attended Carroll High School and Dale County High School before joining the United States Army. Mr. Minton retired after twenty-six and half years in the United States Army with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Minton lived in various locations in the United States and overseas before returning to Ozark in 1990. After retirement, he was employed as Operations Manager at Blackwell Field in Ozark and later as an aircraft mechanic with DynCorp at Fort Rucker (now Fort Novosel). Mr. Minton was a faithful member of Ewell Bible Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and assisted with the Youth.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Woodcock, a brother, Robert Minton, and a sister, Gladys Sellers, and a sister-in-law, Loretta Minton.

 Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-nine and a half years, Claudia Kendrick Minton, Ozark; daughter, Sheila Woodcock (Ken), Holly Springs, North Carolina; a grandson, Kenny Woodcock, Greenfield, New York; two brothers, Willford Minton (Claudia), Lake City, Florida and Buddy Minton (Marty), Columbus, Georgia; sister, Sarah Frances Wallace, Florida; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
