OZARK…Mr. Grady E. Carrington, a resident of Ozark, near Arguta Community, died Tuesday morning, July 18, 2023, at Dale Medical Center. He was 73.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 21, 2023, in the Ozark Baptist Church with his nephew, Dr. Jeff Peacock officiating. Eulogies will be given by his son, Nash Carrington and Mr. Larry Hicks. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in the Arguta Community. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Grady, son of the late Harold Edwin Carrington and Marguerite O’Dell Parrish Carrington, was a native of Opelika, Alabama. He moved to Enterprise at an early age and then to Ozark in 1993. Mr. Grady was a veteran of the Vietnam War Era having served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark. Mr. Grady enjoyed coaching baseball for the teams his sons played, whether it was recreation league or travel ball. He retired from the Ozark City Schools as the maintenance supervisor. Mr. Grady enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the yard, and being a practical joker all with a dry sense of humor.
Surviving relatives include his wife of forty-three years, Lynn Richardson Carrington, Ozark; two sons, Dr. Judd Bazzel (Tracy), Franklin, Tennessee and Nash Carrington (Payton), Chattanooga, Tennessee; two sisters, Dell Strength, Enterprise and Marilyn Locklar (Mike), Dothan; a brother, Hal Carrington, Jack, Alabama; two grandchildren, Chelsey Hughes and Kevin Hughes (Brittany); two great-grandchildren, Ava and Aubrey; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ryan Wambles, Chad Wambles, Grant Peacock, Parker Peacock, Tyler Carrington, and Ricky Brown.
