OZARK…Mr. Harold Fred Thompson, a resident of Ozark, died early Thursday morning, March 2, 2023, at his home. He was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Hart and Reverend Dr. Scott E. Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the church.
Mr. Thompson, son of the late Lemuel Charles Thompson and Willie Ethel Adams Thompson, was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark. He was a 1953 Graduate of Dale County High School in Ozark and was retired as the Director of Operations for Pea River Electric Cooperative after forty-three years of employment. Mr. Thompson was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark, where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Annie Mae Andrews, Bernice Turner, Willie Charles Chancey, and Dorothy Roberts; a brother, James Thompson.
Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-nine years, Martha S. Thompson, Ozark; two daughters, Lynn Sears (Russell), Brandon, Mississippi, and Leigh Byrne, Tallahassee, Florida; a son, Wayne Thompson (Lydia), Birmingham; seven grandchildren, Laura Alexander (Johnny), Drew Sears, Taylor Sears (Nicole), Elise Sears, Megan Byrne, Emily Byrne, and Hannah Blackall (Bryan); five great-grandchildren, Mason Alexander, Oliver Sears, Sarah Blackall, Nathan Blackall, and Liam Walden; two sisters-in-law, Sharon McNeal, Dothan and Myrl Woodham, Ozark; nieces and nephews.
