OZARK…. Mr. Harry Grainger (MSG, Retired, U.S. Army) a resident of Ozark, died early Wednesday morning, December 23, 2020 at his home. He was 73.
Funeral services, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 28, 2020 in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Scott E. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. COVID 19 guidelines will be followed during all scheduled times.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #94, PO Box 57, Ozark, AL 36361.
Mr. Grainger, son of the late Amos Grainger and Rhoda Rabon Grainger, was a native of Conway, South Carolina. He lived in various locations in the United States and overseas while serving in the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the US Army with the rank of Master Sergeant. Mr. Grainger moved to Ozark thirty five years ago, where he retired from the City of Ozark as the Code Enforcement Officer. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #94, Ozark where he was the former Commander. Mr. Grainger was active in preparing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial which is located at County Ag-plex in Ozark.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara Keith Grainger; daughters, Shauna Burk (Bill), all of Ozark and Kim Spence (Blake), Eufaula; two brothers, Howard Grainger (Kay), Atlanta, GA and Larry Grainger (Fran), Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Cortney Blankenship and Bradley Blankenship; two great-grandchildren, Mason Thomley and Olivia Baxley.
