BETHEL CHURCH COMMUNITY…Mr. Hugh C. McDaniel, a resident of the Bethel Church Community, near Echo, died early Friday morning, May 26, 2023, at his home. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in Bethel Methodist Church with Reverend Darin T. Easter officiating. A Eulogy will be given by his grandson, Cliff Haynes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. McDaniel, son of the late Dallas Clifford McDaniel and Verdie Lee Strickland McDaniel, was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County, near Echo. He was a 1955 Graduate of Ozark High School and played high school baseball at Eagle Stadium. Mr. McDaniel owned and operated McDaniel Plumbing & Electric for over forty years and was a “Jack of all Trades”. He loved and supported his grandchildren by attending all sporting events, pageants, plays, and anything else his grandchildren were involved in. Mr. McDaniel especially supported G.W. Long Rebels athletics. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed square dancing, where he danced with River Ramblers. Mr. McDaniel was a member of the Buck and Bass Club, where he was known as "Unit 12". He was an active member of Bethel Methodist Church and was the church cemetery caretaker for many years. Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Bobbie Nell Adkins McDaniel; two sisters, Mildred Roe and Elizabeth Clark.
Surviving relatives include his two daughters, Vickie Haynes (Tommy), Bertha Community and Karen McDaniel, Bethel Community; five grandchildren, Cliff Haynes (Katrina), Ashley McClenny (Jared), Kelly Weathers (K.C.), Kara Birdsong (Brett), and Turner Lee (Cassie); six great-grandchildren, Aubreigh Haynes, Greyson Haynes, Zadie McClenny, Bryan Weathers, Kennedy Claire Birdsong, and Brooks Birdsong; two sisters-in-law, Linda Gail Walker and Margaret McDaniel (Bobby), all of Ozark; brother-in-law, Jerry Adkins (Julie), Cottonwood; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Turner Lee, Cliff Haynes, Greyson Haynes, Jared McClenny, Brett Birdsong, and K.C. Weathers.
