DALEVILLE…. James E. Cupit (MSGT, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Daleville, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 23, 2019 at his home. He was 82.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 30,2019 in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Foreman and Hospice Chaplain Mike Dease officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Daleville Memorial Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home in Ozark.
Mr. Cupit was born in Delhi, Louisiana on April 17, 1936 to the late Landy Cupit and Myrtis Strait Cupit. He served our country in the United States Army for over 24 years before retiring in 1977. He was the recipient of many service awards including the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal and many others. He was a member of Level Plains Baptist Church. He was a devoted family man and always put his family first. He loved to fish.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Deborah Louise Cupit, a son, James Edward Cupit, Jr. and three sisters, Helen, Emma Gene and Alta Ouida.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Louise Cupit, daughter, Susan (Seth) Rosetta of Daleville, AL., sons, Randy E. Cupit of Waynesborough, PA., and J. Kevin (Pat) Cupit of San Antonio, TX., grandchildren, Erica Gillespie, James Kevin Cupit, Jr., Cassie Rosetta, Ryan Cupit, Clarissa Cupit and five great grandchildren.
