OZARK…… Mr. James A. Dillard, a resident of Ozark, died early Tuesday afternoon, August 6, 2019 at his home. He was 72.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 9, 2019 in Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Bates and Reverend Kenneth Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the sanctuary of Southside Baptist Church. At other times, the family will be at the home of his daughter, Christy, 489 Bermuda St., Ozark.
Flowers will be accepted.
Mr. Dillard, son of the late O.S. “Pat” Dillard and Sybil Mixon Dillard, was a native of Ozark. He was a 1965 graduate of Carroll High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Math and History from Troy University. Mr. Dillard formerly lived in Russellville, Kentucky and Birmingham before returning to Ozark. He was retired from Building and Earth Sciences in Birmingham as a welding inspector. Mr. Dillard was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He served as a Gideon in Ozark in earlier years.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Brenda Smith Dillard; two daughters, Christy Faust (Brian) and Jaime Stricklin (Bryan); his brother, Robert Dillard, all of Ozark; five grandchildren, Dustin Reeves, Jessica Gannon, Jordan Holse, Hunter Atkins, and Christian Atkins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Brian Fair, Roy Atkins, James Gannon, Gary Keown, Brian Atkins, and Robert Adams.
