OZARK…. Mr. Jesse Sharpe, a resident of Ozark, died late Sunday evening, July 19, 2020 in Dale Medical Center. He was 91.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Saturday, July 25, 2020 in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel. COVID-19 guidelines for social distancing will be observed during scheduled times.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ozark Baptist Church, 282 S. Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
Mr. Sharpe, son of the late Jeptha Gray Sharpe and Leona Smith Sharpe, was a native of the Buck Creek Community in Covington County. He formerly lived in Montgomery, Andalusia, Mobile, before moving to Ozark in 1964. Mr. Sharpe opened the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store in Ozark in 1964 where he retired in 1999 after thirty-five years employment. He was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church and formerly served as a deacon and taught Sunday school. Mr. Sharpe was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lora Bennett, Lucy Kilgore, Clyde Kilpatrick, Virgie Wright and Gladys Huckaba; brothers, Emmett Sharpe, Jim Sharpe, Earl Sharpe, Frank Sharpe, Gene Sharpe, Grider Sharpe, and Adron Sharpe.
Surviving relatives include his wife of seventy years, Jean Donaldson Sharpe, Ozark; two sons, Rodney Sharpe and Richard Sharpe (Georgia Ann), all of Dothan; two grandchildren, Mason Sharpe (Lauren) and Amelia Sharpe; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Sharpe and Hannah Sharpe.
