John J. Johns, a lifetime resident of Dale County, passed away, Thursday night, February 2, 2017 at Dale Medical Center. He was 89.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel of Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery (Arguta) with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 on Tuesday prior to service time.
Mr. Johns was born October 22, 1927 in Dale County to Charlie Clayborn and Lummie Lou Davis Johns and lived all of his life there. He was employed at Ft. Rucker with Civil Service as an aviation inspector for over 30 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Johns enjoyed spending time with his family and farming. He was an avid member of the Machis Lower Creek Indian Tribe.
He is predeceased by his parents, and several sisters and brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanette Roberts Johns of Ozark; a daughter, Kimberly and Randall Perrigin of Rogersville; a son, Billy Gene Johns of Ozark; grandchildren, Brandon and Jackie Gilley, Daniel and Meghan Gilley, Chris and Jamie Clayville and Curtis Gene Johns; great grandchildren, Lin and Taylor Gilley and Landen and Danika Gilley; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Charlene Roberts and Dale Spivey; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
