Joseph "JoJo" Sappington

NEWTON…Joseph “JoJo” Sappington, a resident of Newton, died late Monday afternoon, December 9, 2024, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Madison, Florida. He was 19.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Sunday, December 15, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Damon Gilstrap officiating. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery in Avon. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

 Joseph was born on January 2, 2005, and was a native of Newton. He attended Dale County High School. Joseph enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his family and friends. Some of his greatest times were spent fishing, riding motorcycles, and working on cars. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Luella Taber Scott and Billy and Janice Gannon.

 Surviving relatives include his mother, Jessica Scott Woodham (Danny Woodham, II), Newton; father, Jackson Sappington (Christina), Samson; siblings, Kayla Gannon, Shaun Gannon, and Joshua Woodham, all of Newton; aunts and uncles, Michele Tipper (Juan), Quincy, Florida, Bobby Kowanes, Jr., Joseph Vickery, Rebecca Campbell, and Christina Scott; grandparents, Danny Woodham and Margie Goodwin; cousins including, Justin Tipper (Linda), Kamren Tipper and Sylvia Brightwell; numerous friends and other relatives.

 Serving as active pallbearers will be Danny Woodham, Jesse George, Jacob Senn, Kamren Johnson, Lane Gill, and Adam Toub.
