DOTHAN…. Karen Trawick, a resident of Dothan, and Skipperville native, died Wednesday evening, September 12, 2018 in a Dothan hospital. She was 67.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 15, 2018 in the Clopton United Methodist Church with Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to G.W. Long Elementary School Special Education Program, 2567 County Road 60, Skipperville, AL 36374.
Karen was born at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and lived in various locations in the United States while her father served in the United States Coast Guard. She was a 1969 Graduate of G.W. Long High School. Karen received her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Troy University and certification for Special Education from Auburn University at Montgomery. She taught Special Education at G.W. Long Elementary School, Dale County High School, Autauga County School System, and Calhoun County School System. She attended Clopton United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her father, Lewie Frank Trawick, Sr.
Surviving relatives include her two daughters, Jessica Heiken (Joel), Ozark and Kelli Golden (Wes), Montgomery; her mother, Hazel Stuckey Trawick, Skipperville; two sisters, Jane Trawick-Long (Rob), Schenectady, NY and Mitzi Trawick, Skipperville; a brother, Lewie Frank Trawick, Jr. (Connie), Escondido, CA; three grandchildren, Paige McDaniel, Caitlin McDaniel, and Avery Golden; a niece, Shannon Trawick and a nephew, Brian Sellers (Robin).
