OZARK… Mrs. Lanara Hagler Barentine, a resident of Ozark, died Sunday afternoon, February 27, 2022, in Dale Medical Center. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 3, 2022, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tyrone Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in First Holy Ground Cemetery in the Post Oak Community, near Ozark. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday.
Mrs. Barentine, daughter of the late Hester Hazon Hagler and Tommie Gladys Welch Hagler, was a native of Dale County. In earlier years, she was employed with White Knight and Van Heusen as a sewing machine operator. Mrs. Barentine was a member of First Holy Ground Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Barentine and Lunnie Smith; children, Stevie Smith, Avalyn Gallion, Melissa Turner, and stepson, Kenneth Gallion; her siblings, Hazel Roberts and husband, Roscoe, Margaret Miller and husband, Kenneth, Johnnie C. Halger and wife, Ruth, and Annette Bright and husband, David.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Trecie S. Turner, Ozark; step-daughter, Sandra Dabney (Jim), Charlotte, NC; a son, Jimmy Smith (Donna), Lithia Springs, GA; two step-sons, Charles Gallion (Patty) High Pointe, NC and Donald Gallion (Lisa), Leesville, LA; grandchildren, Eddie Turner (Jennifer), Michael Turner (Brandy), James Smith, Joseph Smith, Ashley Murphy, Brittany Abshire, Casey Turner, Stephanie Smith, and Teresa Smith; four great-grandchildren, Brodie Turner, Lance Spender, Ethan Murphy, and Dawson Murphy; step-grandchildren, John Dabney, Paul Dabney, Charles Joe Edwards Gallion, Karen Turner, and Jason Gallion, April Gallion, Amanda Ferron, and Ronald Martin.
