OZARK…. Mrs. Margaret Chancey Andrews, a resident of the Pleasant Grove Community, near Ozark, died Tuesday afternoon, April 16, 2019 at Dale Medical Center. She was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 19, 2019 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Davis and Reverend James Bell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Youth Building Fund, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
Mrs. Andrews, daughter of the late Espy Howard Chancey and Ara Langford Chancey, was a native of Dale County. She was a graduate of Ariton High School and Alverson Draughon Business College in Birmingham. Mrs. Andrews was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Rucker as a clerk in transportation and logistics. She was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where in earlier years she taught Vacation Bible School, was also a member of the church choir, and served in the nursery as well as many other areas of the church. Mrs. Andrews enjoyed being with friends and family and also enjoyed cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel John "Mickey" Andrews; a son, Michael H. Andrews; two brothers, Harrell Chancey and Edwin Chancey.
Surviving relatives include her son, Mark Andrews (Keri Cain), Brantley; daughter-in-law, Lynn Pipkins Andrews, Ozark; two sisters, June C. Hughes (Kenneth) and Myra C. Hughes, all of Ozark; three grandchildren, Taylor Andrews, Krysten Andrews, and Ashlee Andrews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Danny Hill, Jim Hughes, Larry Hughes, Lee Hughes, Lynn Hughes, Clay Hughes, Kenny Hill, Aubrey Langford, and Ricky Wallace.
