ROETON COMMUNITY…Mrs. Olivia Prestwood Crawley, a resident of the Roeton Community, Coffee County, died late Monday morning, December 2, 2024, in the Oakview Manor Retirement Center. She was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in the Roeton Baptist Church with Reverend Kerry Saxon and Reverend Chad Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Crawley, daughter of the late Clayton Prestwood and Lucille Mizell Prestwood, was a native and lifelong resident of the Roeton Community. She was a graduate of Pike County High School in Brundidge and received a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree from Troy University in Elementary Education. Mrs. Crawley retired from the Dale County Board of Education at Ariton School, after thirty-four years of employment, as the only Second Grade Teacher for many years. She was an active member of the Roeton Baptist Church, where she was a charter member, served as the church organist, choir director, and the Adult Sunday school class teacher. Mrs. Crawley was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Bowden “Larry” Crawley, brothers-in-law, John Crawley, A.D. Fuller, and William Crawley; sister-in-law, Nancy Banks and her husband, Randy.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Jaine Laney (Steve), Ariton; sister, Jeanice Fuller, Roeton Community; three grandchildren, Madison Johnson (Austin), Raegan Hanson (Jackson), and J.T. Laney; two great-grandchildren, Klayten Caroline Johnson and Reeves Austyn Johnson; sister-in-law, Sherrie Crawley, Brundidge; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be J.T. Laney, Austin Johnson, Jackson Hanson, Chad Fuller, Jesse Fuller, and Coley Fuller. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Johnson and the men of Roeton Baptist Church.
