EWELL COMMUNITY…Mr. Peter D. Coleman, Sr., a resident of the Ewell Community, near Ozark, died Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2024, at his home. He was 73.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 25, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Greg Thomas officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Coleman, son of the late William Mann Coleman and Phyllise Wanda Cameron Coleman, was a native of Rochester, New York. He formerly lived in Clarence Center, New York, Daytona Beach, Florida before moving to Ozark in 1977. Mr. Coleman was a veteran of the Vietnam War stationed in Korea, having served in the United States Army and the Alabama Army National Guard. He retired from Fort Rucker (now Fort Novosel) after thirty-eight years working as an armament technician on Apache Helicopters. Mr. Coleman was a former Pastor of Midland City Community Church in Midland City and was a member of Faith Tabernacle Community Church in Dothan. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Mangum and a brother, Paul D. Coleman, Sr.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty Adams Coleman, Ozark; daughter, Tracy Wise (Lucas), Ozark; four sons, Peter Daniel Coleman, Jr., Dothan, Jonathan Hallford (Destiny), Texas, Joseph Hallford (Tiffany), and Mark Hallford (Karen), all of Rehobeth; sister, Pam Huggins, Port Orange, Florida; grandchildren, Arizona Deese, Jacoby Wise, Alex Coleman, Aiden Coleman, Joshua Hallford, Catlin James, Abigail Hallford, Acadia Hallford, Kaleb Hallford, Alexis Hallford, Jackson Hallford, Holden Hallford, Ariel Hallford, Ahnakah Hallford, Adelena Hallford, Dylan Krebil, and Nathan Cawley (United States Marine Corps); two great-grandchildren, Draylin Deese and Monte James; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center for their loving care and kindness shown to the Mr. Coleman and family and also to his family and church family for their love and support.
