OZARK…. Robert Douglas Plissey (Lt. Colonel, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died Friday afternoon, May 24, 2019 in an Ozark nursing home. He was 86.
Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 30, 2019 in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel with Pastor Justin Davis officiating. Interment will be in Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou, Maine. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridlewood Chapel Church, c/o Gail Hausman, 114 Riverwood Drive, Enterprise, Alabama 36330.
Mr. Plissey, son of the late Sherman Everett Plissey and Elizabeth Mary Chapman Plissey, was a native of Washburn, Maine. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine. Mr. Plissey was retired from the United States Army, having served in the Korean War Era and the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he was employed and was retired from the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer. Mr. Plissey moved to Enterprise, Alabama in 1988 and then finally making his home in Ozark in 1991. He was a member of the Bridlewood Chapel Church in Ozark. Mr. Plissey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Greveler Plissey, March 5, 2008.
Surviving relatives include his siblings, Bonita Walsh, Gloria Platt and Larry Plissey; several nieces and nephews, including Walter M. Platt, Jr., Boston, MA; his loving church family from Bridlewood Chapel.
